Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., along with our affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively, “Samsung”) respect your concerns about privacy. This Samsung Open Source Privacy Notice applies to the personal information we collect through the Samsung Open Source website. It does not apply to information collected by other apps, websites or services provided by Samsung. Samsung is the data controller for the processing of personal data.

This Privacy Notice provides information about how Samsung collects, uses and shares your personal information in connection with Samsung Open Source. Our Privacy Policy at https://account.samsung.com/membership/pp (“Samsung Privacy Policy”) will also apply to your use of Samsung Open Source, and should be read in conjunction with this Privacy Notice. The Samsung Privacy Policy provides additional information about our personal information practices, including how to contact us. In the event any portion of this Privacy Notice conflicts with the Samsung Privacy Policy, the relevant provisions of this Privacy Notice will apply.

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Through Samsung Open Source, we obtain and maintain information about you in various ways.

Information You Provide Directly

Samsung Open Source collects information from you directly. For example:

  • When you make an inquiry through Samsung Open Source, we may collect information you submit through the inquiry form, such as your name, email address, country, the content of your inquiry, and any other information you submit through the inquiry form.

Information About Your Use of Samsung Open Source

In addition to the information you provide, we will collect information about your use of our Samsung Open Source through software on your devices and by other means. We will collect:

  • Log information: Diagnostic, technical, error, and usage information such as the time and duration of your use of Samsung Open Source, search query terms when you enter search terms on Samsung Open Source, and any information stored in cookies that we have set on your devices.

Samsung Open Source collects log information through the use of cookies. Cookies are small files that store information on your computer or device. They enable the entity that put the cookie to recognize you across different websites, services, devices, and/or browsing sessions. HOW DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION?

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide Samsung Open Source or respond to your requests, inquiries, and instructions made through Samsung Open Source;
  • To analyze our products and services to help us better understand our customers in order to offer the most relevant communications, services and experiences to you;
  • To provide software updates, maintenance services and support for Samsung Open Source;
  • To comply with the law and legal processes; and
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Samsung Electronics, or any of our affiliates, business partners, or customers

Samsung processes personal information for the purposes described above. Samsung’s legal basis to process personal information includes processing:

  • (i) So that we can keep our promises to you, such as providing you with Samsung Open Source;
  • (ii) To promote our business interests (for example, to manage our relationship with you); and
  • (iii) To comply with the law and legal processes;

WHO DO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH?

We share your personal information with our subsidiaries and affiliates and with service providers who perform services for us. We do not authorize our service providers to use or disclose the information except as necessary to perform services on our behalf or to comply with legal requirements. We use Google Analytics to help us analyze your use of Samsung Open Source and improve Samsung Open Source. The information we obtain may be disclosed to or collected directly by by Google Analytics who use the information, for example, to evaluate use of Samsung Open Source, help administer Samsung Open Source, and diagnose technical issues. We also share your information with the following entities: (i) other parties when required by law, such as when pursuant to law, legal process, or court or governmental order, or as necessary to prevent physical harm, financial loss, or for the purposes of national security, (ii) third parties in connection with corporate transactions, such as part of mergers or transfers, acquisitions or sales, or in the event of a bankruptcy, or (iii) in addition to the disclosures described in this Privacy Notice, third parties when you consent to such sharing.

HOW LONG DO WE RETAIN YOUR INFORMATION AND WHERE DOES IT GO?

We will not keep your personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. This means that information will be destroyed or erased from our systems when it is no longer required. We retain the following types of data about you according to the table below:

This Privacy Notice may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our personal information practices with respect to Samsung Open Source or changes in the applicable law. We will indicate at the top of this Privacy Notice when it was most recently updated.
